Experience working on ultralight aircraft (SLA) allows us to distinguish the following main causes of flight accidents:
1. Failures and destruction of aircraft, caused by gross errors in the design, violations in the technology of manufacturing parts and assemblies, the use of substandard materials.
2. Engine failure.
3. Errors in the maintenance of aircraft.
4. Errors in the technique of piloting, due to the lack of stable flight skills, a frivolous attitude to flying.
5. Unsatisfactory organization of flights.

The first and, in part, the second reason is a consequence of the lack of engineering training of the ALS designer, who, at least, must master the methods of aerodynamic calculation, calculation of ALS, should be familiar with the theory of piston engines and propellers.

The SLA and NLG SLA developed at the present time will help amateur designers create a reliable safe aircraft.

First of all, it is necessary to develop and understand in detail the most important principles of flight dynamics, the basis of stability and controllability of ALS. Preliminary estimate which dynamic features are characteristic for the device created by you (in particular, what is the speed of stalling, takeoff and landing speeds, maximum speed, how effective the rudders are, how stable the vehicle is).

After this, you can proceed to the training in the cabin and to the flights, following the principle of gradualness and training.
